Permaculture Garden

Drawing and writing by the student-run garden outside Williams.

Permaculture Garden

Sit down on the bench in the permaculture garden and look at the plants surrounding you. Once you have found one that looks interesting to you, start drawing it. Don’t worry about trying to make your drawing look exactly like the plant, just follow its shape with your eyes and draw what you see. If the inspiration strikes you, draw a new environment for the plant, or turn it into something else.

While sitting in the permaculture garden, pay close attention to the plants surrounding you. Pick a section of the garden and study the details of the plants that inhabit it. Write a description of the section you chose using as much detail as possible. If your description leads to something else, keep writing. Write until you can’t think of anything else to say.
